Richard H. Yook, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who received his medical degree (M.D.) from UCLA. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He is a long-standing member of the clinical teaching faculty at UCLA, serving as Assistant Clinical Professor. Dr. Yook has also received a graduate degree in optometry (O.D.) at the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Arts (M.A.) at Fuller Theological Seminary.
Dr. Yook is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has participated in the cataract surgery teaching program at the Jules Stein Eye Institute and received the Ophthalmology Senior Honor Award for 25 years of teaching. His special interest include serving the poor on volunteer eye surgery mission trips. He has served on projects in Mexico, Honduras, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Iraq, China, Philippines, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and India. |

James c tan, md, phd
Dr. Tan is a board certified eye physician, glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon. For over ten years he has provided eye care to patients at the Doheny Eye Institute, UCLA and University of Southern California. He has been named amongst Pasadena and LA Top Docs.
His research has received recognition and awards from the National Institutes of Health, Research to Prevent Blindness, International Glaucoma Association and American Glaucoma Society. He has authored over 100 scientific papers, abstracts, book chapters and books. This includes the award-winning Atlas of Clinical Ophthalmology that is translated into seven languages and among the best selling ophthalmology textbooks worldwide. Dr. Tan graduated from medical school with Honors at the University of Sydney, Australia and received his PhD from University College London, UK. |
Dr. Tan undertook an ophthalmology residency at the University of Wisconsin and glaucoma fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Doheny Eye Institute/USC. He has received professional certifications from the American Board of Ophthalmology and Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society and Association for Research in Vision & Ophthalmology.
